I was so right!

I am always reading Melody Johnsons blog, and the blogs of her buddies. They are always knitting great things in great colors. I learned to knit when I was little. I have knitted all kinds of things, mostly sweaters, never socks. Anyway, when I decided to devote all of my time to my true love, quilting, I gave up my other crafts. Looking at all of this knitting going on has made me want to start again. So I decided to stop at a local quilt shop that has wonderful yarns in the upstairs part of the store. I figured I would get what I need to make some socks.. small, shouldn't be too much.. Geeze, just lay me out the day I spend $20.00 to MAKE a pair of socks. That's how much all of the beautiful yarn was. Now, I know... it's an art. I know there are many people that would say.. why should I spend $300.00 to MAKE a quilt, when I can get one at Walmart for $39.00.. Well, maybe not a really good comparison. But.. I can get some pretty nifty socks at Walmart for $2.50....

I don't want to take up knitting anymore...

You and I need to hold hands and take a deep breath together! My mom is an avid knitter and she is here all week. She is working on a great cotton sweater in fun colors that will total out at about $105 when she is done. ($30/skein). I'll post some blog pictures. We were all on the back porch last night chatting and she was knitting and I was thinking about pulling out my Kaffee Fasset book and looking at it again but I don't want to give her any false hopes. I love sweaters from Marshalls for $19.95! (And, yes, I understand the whole price vs. art discussion)
