i Feliz Dia De Los Muertos!

Skeletons From My Closet

Almost makes it look like I know what I'm talking about, doesn't it? I don't speak Spanish.. I recognize enough of the words to know what they say.. Never really knew much about the Day of the Dead celebration until I made the quilt.. so there ya go. I do want to make another one at some point. I love the idea, and I have more in me.

I loved seeing this quilt in person at Road to California. Was it two years ago? I was so surprised to find you and your blog on the Internet this year.

Thanks for posting this so I could see it again. It's really great!!
One of these days I'll make one, I love the whole concept behind the holiday. All those years of living so close to Mexico, it seems natural. Cinco de Mayo gets a whole lot more press, even though in Mexico it's not a major holiday. Except in cantinas frequented by Americans.

I too had the privilege of seeing this in person at Road to CA. AWESOME in person. Just awesome...The picture does not do it justice.

I saw it in Denver this past summer. It is wonderful and I think you should try it again in Houston, especially since they are adding a new category for embellishments. Go for it!

Teri, I love this quilt and the colors just come alive on your blog! I grew up in So. Cal. and took the requisite Spanish classes in high school. I watched the movie (I can't remember the name at the moment) about a heavyset Mexican girl whose mom wants her to become a seamstress, which was mostly in Spanish. I was surpised at how much came back!

I saw this at Road and it really is magnificent. Thanks for sharing it again.
I'm in So Cal, very close to Mexico and we DO have Dia de los Muertos celebrations here. Every year we set up a "shrine" in our library. Jen
