I VOTED

I did my civic duty and voted today. Well sort of. I have a new way of doing things.

1. I only vote for people that hold the same conservative views that I do, political party affiliation doesn't matter
2. I don't vote for anything that will raise my taxes
3. I don't vote for anything that will result in a constitutional amendment (state or federal)
4. I don't vote for anything that will result in more government control over anything.
5. I don't vote for anyone or any issue that is endorsed by any type of union, or any organization affiliated with ACORN ( that eliminated voting for anyone in my ward).

I will no longer try to persuade anyone to believe in what I think. There are no shades of gray. There is the right side and a wrong side. This doesn't concern Democrat or "moderate" Republicans. Moderates have no principles or they would know what they believe in and choose a side.
I will associate with like minded people. I no longer feel the need to tolerate opposing political views. At this point in history, if you agree with the direction the feds and Obama are taking this country, you are either incredibly uninformed, ignorant, or part of the problem. It is no longer my responsibility to set you straight. Eventually, you will know that you were sadly wrong. By then it will be too late.

One time in a badly timed political discussion with an artist friend, I said to her "there are more people in the country that think like me, than people that think like you". She just kind of laughed and said "do you really believe that?". Well, yes, or I wouldn't have said it. Those people are starting to wake up. I don't know if it is too late. I hope not.

A few months ago I was accused by a sometimes reader of not believing strongly enough in what I would post in these political musings and that is why I deleted political posts on my blog. She actually said there should be a pool on how long it would take me to delete a rant. I was ticked off at first. But, then I considered the source, and I realized that this woman actually did me a favor. Although I always believed in what I wrote, I deleted the posts because of some skewed idea that I didn't want anyone to be assaulted by politics if they came to my blog to read about knitting and quilts.
I haven't deleted any political post since, and I won't, so don't waste your time worrying about it anymore.

My belief about my country is just as strong as my love of my craft. My ancestors on both sides of my family have been here since the 1600's. Many fought in the Revolution against the British to create the country that many people have since immigrated to so they can be free to grow and dream. I was raised in a proud history loving family. Believing in my country is part of who I am, just as much as creating with my hands is part of who I am. All of these gifts are something that have been passed to me through the generations, along with the strong need to fight for my country.

I also write for my children. I get lots of email from people that agree with me and thank me. I want you to know how much I appreciate hearing from you. And even if I never do, I want you to know that you aren't alone.
