FOUND THINGS

I have been cleaning and here are some of the things that I have found.  I pieced this Moonglow several years ago. While the compasses and cornerstone blocks came together okay, they did not come together well.  I was disgusted, and put it away.  I paid a lot for the kit, and I ran out of fabric and I had to track some down to finish the border, which I have yet to do. I hesitate to blame the poorly written directions, because others have made it without it being messed up.  But, I remembering scouring the patterns to find out what size each block should be unfinished, with the trim, and I never could find what size I needed.  But I guess I will finish this, messed up or not, it's still pretty.  I just will only let non quilters see it.. they won't know the difference. :)

This is just a quilt top I made up with orphan blocks.  I don't know why, maybe to practice quilting which I obviously didn't do. 

A small top made up of Christmas prints

1/4 of a twin size quilt of roller coaster fabric that I made for a daughter. Just needs backing.

I vaguely even remember piecing this one.  Need to finish it soon for Memorial day and July 4th

One time, many years ago, a quilter (award winning and an author) was going to have surgery and needed a class sample pieced for an upcoming pattern, as she would be unable to do it.  I was recommended to her by another designer. I was flattered to say the least, but at that time I had never made a lone star.  I should have told her that I couldn't do it.  I told her that I would try, but she knew that I had never done one before.  I pieced hers after I pieced this practice piece.  I have always felt bad that I wasn't up to the task, and instead of telling her I would try, I should have told her she should find someone more skilled.  I never heard back from her when I sent her quilt top.  She is so good at what she does, I doubt she was pleased.  Oh well, lesson learned.  Anyway, I never had the rest of the pattern, so I don't know how it is supposed to look when it is finished. Maybe I will figure out a way to finish this and use it as a table cover.

This is a Hawaiian applique in batiks.. some of it is finished, but I don't think I will bother.  maybe I will take it apart and re-purpose the background fabric. 

Disaster waiting to happen?  No desire to finish this either.

found this print from Africa?  I bought in an international fabric booth one year.

I don't know what the heck I will do with it.  Maybe a bag?

Screen printed, hand painted, stamped and dyed.  Never could bring myself to cut it up. 

These are all various bleached and overdyed fabrics that I made one year.  I think these must be the rejects, because I think I have the good ones in the drawer in my studio.

This is the year to do something with these things, if not, they are going to new homes.  I'm pretty sick of looking at them..

Okay.. off to watch Dr. Who on the BBC, followed by Survivors.  I really like those shows.  

Another British show ,  Merlin, starts on Syfy on Saturday.. I'm looking forward to that.  Knitting time.. don't have digital tv in the sewing room. ttfn
