LOSING A FRIEND

We lost our friend Claire today.  She was one month shy of 13 and has been healthy her whole  life.  I have noticed that she lost some weight and recently she has tottered around and panted a little too much, but it all went down hill within the last 24 hours.  We knew something was wrong when she refused to eat. She NEVER passed up a meal.  She was panting like she had run a mile, and couldn't stand up.  So we took her to the vet who after an x-ray and an echo cardiogram said that Claire probably had cancer around her heart and it was bleeding, and her liver was huge.  She really didn't give us any hope of Claire recovering, so we had to make the decision that every dog owner had had to make.  My husband took it very badly, so I went in to say good bye and snap some photos with my phone.  She was a good dog, and we are going to miss her.

I'm so sorry Teri! It's wonderful though that she had such a long, healthy life! Bigger dogs don't always do that. {{hugs}}

So sorry for your empty heart Teri. It is so hard to let our pets go.
