CLEARING OUT

I spent all of yesterday sorting through fabric and patterns that I kept in my basement filing cabinet.  I put many yards of fabric into my 'to go' box, and many patterns.  I have still kept patterns that I probably should part with.  For instance, Karen Stone's "Indian Orange Peel".
An awesome quilt that I may have made 10 years ago, but I doubt I would make now. So I have this big relatively expensive packet of foundations for this, that I don't really want to keep, and I don't really just want to put on the free table at guild.
I do know one thing.  I wish that I had all of the money that I have spent on this stuff, instead of having this stuff.  That plus the fact that I don't have enough years left in my life to ever make everything that attracts me as I look through all of this crap.

I usually coordinate the challenges for my guild, but next year, I am going to have a running theme for the year called "Stashbusting 2011".  Every month I am going to put an easy block in our newsletter to encourage use of our stash of fabrics.  I have been on the look out for easy quilt ideas for a while now.  I will probably also make this a theme on my blog, and post the block and quilt ideas here to.
I had planned on going to my favorite quilt shop in Amishland today, but after spending the day doing this, I decided not to. I have to find other means of entertainment instead of fabric stores or book stores.

I hope that you all have a great weekend!  I'll probably be back..
