DIGGING OUT

Believe it or not, when I got up this morning the sun was shining and I could see the pavement of the road in front of my house. By the end of the week it is supposed to be in the fifties.. so all of this will melt and people will have to worry about flooding. Luckily, the only body of water near me is Lake Erie so I'm not too worried.

As you can see, I practiced some more yesterday. I added quite a bit of quilting to simple areas, and instead of quilting the square border around the design, I am marking the top for a shashiko filler design I learned from Diane Gaudynski. As you can see, there is a trick to getting the lines correct, and I obviously didn't know it. Hopefully it will be better when I start the other direction. In the picture you can see one of my quilting detail albums. One of the fun things about going to big quilt shows is getting ideas for quilting designs. I take photos of my favorites, and put them in albums. They are nice to have on hand.

Right now, I have to go out and dig out my car so I don't have to do it before work in the morning. We are going to the store to get what we needed on Friday. It started snowing before I could get that errand done. And of course since it's Sunday, there is the obligatory laundry.. yuck. I hope that you all have a good day!

All I wanted to do today was read the paper, enjoy my tea and maybe a Girl Scout cookie or two and get rid of this stupid chest cough my kids brought home from school. I went outside to start the truck (so I could get the paper) and all the doors were iced shut. I manged to climb in through the back and reach across the seat to get the key in and the heat on. Then I came back in, put on the kettle and made my tea. I found the ice scraper, managed to get the passenger door open after chipping away the ice around the top, climbed in and pushed the driver side door open from inside. Cleared enough to drive safely and got my paper. It SO wasn't worth it. ;o)
