Do you have a favorite day of the week? I think that my favorite day is Friday.
I finished the center section of my tweed baby blanket
I attempted to pick up the stitches for the border, but I know I'm not doing it right. Even if I have knitted since I was a little girl, I must have just stayed in my comfort zone, because there are some things I never did. I made sweaters, hats, and many other things, but I have knitted socks and lace for the first time in the past 2-3 years. It is the same with picking up stitches to add a lace border. I'm just not getting it. So I am going to break down and email the designer for some more direction.

My girls drove back here for a few days. They wanted to spend their birthday together for what might be a long time. Then one will head back to Alaska, and the other will go to North Carolina.
I took it hard when when I knew they would be back in a week. It is going to be a learning thing for me. I think the hardest part is sharing them with other families. We have a very small family. What extended family we have live in far flung states. They all moved away from here. So my kids are the only family my husband and I have had for at least 20 years. We have only had each other for holidays etc. Now enter sons-in-law with large demanding families that expect them to be with them the whole time their sons are in town. We try not to make further demands, which means we will be alone. My hope is, their families will realize that their sons are also a part of another family, and I also hope that my new sons will mature enough to diplomatically tell their families no.

Right now, with my girls home, I wish that they had been ugly spinsters that stayed home with me forever.

Teri, maybe your new sons' families will include you in their family events and thus enlarge your family.

I fully understand, I have 2 daughters and it was very hard for me when they left. But now they each have their own kids and spouses so when they come to visit it is a big house full--what fun!! Hope you have a great weekend.

It is hard to figure out how to coordinate the various family gatherings, and by the time you do, something else enters the mix to make you come up with a new schedule all over again. As a member of a smaller family myself, I always bowed down to the other families, but lately I have been standing up for myself and insisting that I get a part of the rotation schedule myself, and some time. It is a fine balance for sure. Joining the other families is a good idea too, if they will have you.
