COOL KIDS GOING BACK TO BLOGS

I heard on the radio that cool kids are leaving facebook and Twitter and going back to blogs. I guess for once I'm ahead of the curve.  Mostly because I could never get into facebook, and forget Twitter. I really didn't like that whole concept.
A friend and I went back to the local yarn shop RIVER COLORS STUDIO

In the front part of the shop, or the back door depending on what door you come in, is a fabric studio that has mostly Amy Butler patterns and fabric. I am standing in the doorway between the yarn shop and the fabric shop.  Here you can see their shop dog looking out of the window.

If I turn around in the doorway, you can see the yarn shop.  The room extends to the right of the needle display, and there is another small room that holds all of the sock yarns.
I went today with an idea of the project that I wanted to buy yarn for. I ended up getting yarn for a different project  I am making a 'scarf' called SEV[EN] CIRCLE  It has seven connected rings.  They are knit in 10 row sections.  Since they are knit, the edges automatically roll up making knitted rings.  I bought a a deep purple wool, and a light purple cotton and a variegated cotton that has the light purple along with  peach, rose and brown. I don't buy cotton yarn normally.  But I have to say that this yarn (Berroco) is a way nicer quality than the Sugar and Cream yarn I buy at JoAnns or Walmart to knit/crochet washcloths.
I like this pattern a lot because it is easy, and unusual.
I also bought a couple of skeins of taupe sock weight yarn.  It is hand dyed, so it is different shades of taupe.  I will use it to make a shawl.  I really love making and using shawls.

Today, a guild friend came over to try out my HQ Sixteen.  I'm ashamed to say that I seldom use it, and since I brought it up to my sewing room, I haven't turned it on.  It's actually nice, and now that it doesn't have selvages hanging on it, maybe I will try using it to quilt something.

Have a great weekend!!

That shop looks like a really nice shop. Why don't you use the HQ Sixteen? I am looking to get something for quilting in the not too distant future. Do you like the HQ Sixteen?
